It’s not every weekend I manage to get out of E3 and down to the trails, especially when they are not even running, so when I do I like to make a bit of a song and dance about it, you know, blow my own trumpet, a bit of showing off and a fan fare, that sort of thing, you know?

So I set off on my vintage fixed gear after a sturdy brunch with my Yashica in hand, well, round my neck to be more precise, how else was I going to capture that all important cockpit shot on route? It was like a real life Instagram.

The trails were looking the best I have ever seen them, I would love to try and claim some credit for that but I don’t think my half a dozen winter visits have really made that much of an impact

After a leisurely hour and a half ride we arrived at the trails just in time for Rosshead to thrust a shovel in our hands and tell us to fix up the toboggan line berm, after a bit of flapping and mud tossing and numerous social media updates later we celebrated our sterling (sub par to be perfectly honest) work with a few ales and talks of how best Head could bully Bubba upon his return.

The trails were looking the best I have ever seen them, I would love to try and claim some credit for that but I don’t think my half a dozen winter visits have really made that much of an impact, but at least I’m getting my £12.50′s worth.

We rounded the day of with “train-beers” (much like regular beer but drank on a train) and further “street-beers” (much like regular beer but drank on the street, a la the homeless…) down London Fields where Steve explained in a slightly intoxicated manor his “keep-it-simple year” plan as if it was his last year on this planet, which hopefully it isn’t.
