Sunday just gone I popped over to Oxford to check out a jam at the new bowl there organised by Alex Leech for the Oxford Wheels Project. The sun was shining, the bbq was fired up and the DJ was.. a maniac! He played breakbeat at a BMX jam! Later he played some reggae which was much better.

The new bowl at Oxford has been worth the wait I think all would agree and the locals and visiting shredders gave it a much needed thrashing on Sunday. None more so than Lima who has more lines than a map of the underground in there. Matt Priest was also on hand to show some of his ridiculous bike control. Apart from Liam in the blue t-shirt, Alex and some pleb called Craig on the mic I didn’t catch anyones else’s name.. oh wait… BADMAN. You know who you are! Nevertheless they were all having it. I don’t think I’ve seen so many barspins in all my days blud.

Lots of heavy stunts were sent through the day, with a bowl comp, street jam and rail comp followed by big air, all with plenty burgers and sausages consumed in between. And I’m pretty sure the beers were being plowed into as we made our merry way back home to ol londinium. Alex and the guys did a great job of organising a splendid day. Although (and I never thought I’d say this) I noticed that the youth of today seem a bit quiet and reserved. Its been a long time since i was last at a jam of any kind but I’m sure they used to be a lot louder than that… Maybe my hearings going in my old age!
