This is how I want to take pictures…
I don’t know what the trick is…
Is it the lighting?
Thats clearly an important part.
Composition is too, obviously, but what’s the formula?
Is it having something in the very near foreground to give a hint of voyerism?
A shallow depth of field plays a part, but it’s not as simple as that.

(Foreground+shallow DOF+Softlight+Girl-clothes@50%=Photo)?

I’ve bought a HexarAF and thats a pretty good camera, its a good start but you can’t buy skill, as much as I try.

Until I have worked it out and talked Zoe into being a complete muse all I have to show is my reference material- Paul Barbera’s Love Lost project, a photo series which claims to be a “perspective on love” Maybe a photo series that invokes the feeling of intimacy and love would be a more accurate description as I don’t think the photographer knows his subjects personally, or maybe thats what he does mean and it just went a wee bit over my head- which is more likely as he appears to be somewhat of a hot shot. Anyway, enjoy…

Erm, Chris, are you breaking the rules here?

  2. Chris says:

    Bending/Pushing. It’s self referencial so…

  3. Jaz says:

    Flimsy excuse!

  4. Chris says:

I know the internet needs policing Jaz but might be time to put your toy truncheon down and step away from the keyboard.

  5. Jaz says:

I always like to keep my truncheon in hand when on the inter web.
