Ben Fogle

This past tuesday I went to a gig. Which was novel, I’d not been to a gig for ages. It had been so long that I’d forgotten who even played at the last one… My girlfriend had bought tickets to see Trampled by Turtles, whom I will admit I hadn’t heard of, but decided that they must be fairly modern and hip as they seemed to fit into the recent trend of band names that feature some kind of creature performing a verb.

Then I discovered that they were a bluegrass band. Great…. I had visions of some old moaning scrubber waffling about “having a hard life maaaan” in some manner that Chris would probably like, which means out of principle alone, I definitely shouldn’t like them.

I was wrong, they were actually really good. Most live bands impress me, due to the fact that I cant play anything musical and the fact that I’m easily impressed. But Ben Fogle and his band of strummers and pluckers, featuring some weird love child bi-proxy Pete / Spaz Tom banjo lad, were an especially talented troup. I enjoyed it.

They didn’t even have a drum man, I usually like drums.

This is actually amazing, Georgie should choose your music more often.
